COMMITTEES
Executive Council
This Council of the DCFA is
responsible for conduction the business of the DCFA between General
Meetings, providing overall direction and leadership to the DCFA, and is
responsible to the General Meeting.
The Executive Council meets on the 1st
Wednesday of each month, unless otherwise indicated, in Room 2320 at the New
Westminster campus from 4:00
- 6:00 pm.

Contract Committee
The Contract Committee, which has one elected representative from each
constituency area, has the dual role negotiations and stewardship. The
committee prepares negotiating proposals on behalf of DCFA members during
bargaining periods and ensure compliance by the College with the terms and
conditions of the Collective Agreement.
The committee, which meets monthly
from September to June, is co-chaired by the VP Stewardship and the VP
Negotiations.
The Contact Committee meets on the 2nd
Wednesday
of each month in the DCFA office from 4:00 - 6:00 pm unless otherwise

DCFA
Operations and
Finance Committee
The Operations and Finance Committee meets several times a year to review and
recommend the Douglas College Faculty Association Annual budget. The Committee
also reviews the operations of the DCFA investments which form the equity in the
Strike-Lockout Fund. The Committee brings forward its recommendations to
Executive Council and to the membership at the Annual General Meeting.
Faculty Matters
Faculty Matters is the official newsletter of
the DCFA. The editorial policy and the appointment of the Editor and
Editorial Board are the responsibility of the Executive Council.
FPSE Committee
Representatives
The Federation of Post-Secondary
Educators is a
federation of local Faculty Associations in the college and institute
system in British Columbia. The DCFA is affiliated to FPSE which provides
legal and staff support for the activities of the DCFA. FPSE is also
involved in lobbying all levels of government and is the vehicle for our
affiliation with the Canadian Association of University Teachers,
the National Union of the Canadian
Association of University Teachers, the
BC Federation of Labour and the
Canadian Labour Congress.
EXTERNAL COMMITTEES
Douglas College Health and
Safety Representatives
The Occupation Health and Safety
Committees at the NW and DL campuses are joint management/labour
committees mandated by provincial legislation. These committees are
responsible for the investigation of accidents, incidents and the overall
safety of working conditions. They are also responsible for the education
of employees and the promotion of a health and safe working environment.
Douglas College
Rehabilitation Committee
The Rehabilitation Committee is a
joint labour/management committee created by the Common Agreement section
of the Collective Agreement. This committee assists members who need
accommodation due to injury or illness and provides support for members
returning to work from medical leaves.
New Westminster and District Labour Council
This committee meets on the fourth
Wednesday of every month.
